Wedding Day at Troldhaugen for Concert Band
This is a new arrangement of a much-loved piece. Although it is a march with "Wedding" in the title, it is not a wedding march. Troldhaugen (or "Troll Hills") was the house that Grieg built at a pleasant distance fron Bergen, and he composed the piece as an anniversary gift for his wife. Its title before publication was "The Well-Wishers Are Coming", and we can hear the bustle of preparations. Is the reflective middle section a picture of the bride? At the end we hear the wedding band tuning up, a comic effect which Grieg wrote for piano but left out of his orchestration - here it is restored!
