Six Russian Anthems
Russia has had at least six national anthems over the centuries. This compendium comprises:- The Petrovsky March of Peter the Great's life guard; God Save The Tsar (to the British tune); God Save The Tsar (by Alexei Lvov); The Internationale; the Anthem of the USSR (which is also the current one); and finally the Patriotic Song by Glinka, the melody of which was adopted after the end of communism but failed to acquire any words before the Soviet anthem (with a new text) was reinstated by V.V. Putin.
